How it works

From a name to a registered company in five steps

You answer the questions once. We turn them into a complete CRO application.

  1. 01

    Check your name

Search the CRO register here. We flag names that are taken, too similar, or use words that need consent.

  2. 02

    Choose a package

Pick the company type and the services you need, from a registered office to a Section 137 bond.

  3. 03

    Add details and ID

Directors, secretary, shareholders and activity. Each director gives a PPSN or an IPN, and we help if one is needed.

  4. 04

    We prepare and file

We draft Form A1 and your constitution, you review and sign, and we file with the CRO on CORE.

  5. 05

    Incorporated

Your certificate and documents arrive in your account, with your next steps: the RBO filing and Revenue registration.

No director in the EEA?

The EEA director rule, and the ways to meet it

At least one director of an Irish company must live in the European Economic Area. The test is where they live, not their nationality, and a director living in the UK no longer counts.

If none of your directors lives in the EEA, the company needs another way to meet the rule before the CRO will register it. There are three.

The European Economic Area: the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. The UK and Switzerland are not in it. GB CH IS NO SE FI IE DK EE NL DE PL LT LV FR BE LU CZ SK PT ES LI AT HU RO IT SI HR BG MT GR CY
EEA Ireland Not in the EEA
  1. A Section 137 bond

A Section 137 bond is an insurance bond the company holds instead of an EEA-resident director. It must be in force from incorporation for at least two years and is then renewed.

  2. A Section 140 certificate

A company with a real and continuous economic link to Ireland can instead obtain a certificate from Revenue under section 140 and file it with its application.

  3. An EEA-resident director

A director who lives in the EEA joins your board, so the company meets the rule without a bond.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Something else? Ask us directly.

How long does it take to form an Irish company?

The CRO does not guarantee a processing time. It takes longer if a director first needs an IPN. We prepare your application as soon as your details and identity numbers are complete.

Do I need to live in Ireland?

No. You can own an Irish company from anywhere in the world.

At least one director of an Irish company must live in the European Economic Area. The test is where they live, not their nationality, and a director living in the UK no longer counts. If none of your directors does, read forming as a non-EEA resident.

What if a director doesn’t have a PPS number?

Each director and the secretary gives a Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) on Form A1. Someone without a PPSN first applies to the CRO for an Identified Person Number (IPN) on Form VIF.

We can prepare Form VIF for you as an extra when you order.

Do I need a registered office in Ireland?

Yes. A company’s registered office must be an address in Ireland from the day it is formed, and it must keep one for as long as it exists. Official letters are sent there, and it appears on the public register.

What happens after my company is registered?

Your company must register its beneficial owners with the Register of Beneficial Ownership (RBO) soon after it is formed. Filing is online and free, and banks often ask for it before opening an account.

Register the company with Revenue for corporation tax, and for VAT or as an employer if it needs to, using Form TR2. An agent can do this for you through ROS.

The company’s first annual return is made up to six months after incorporation and does not need accounts. Later returns include financial statements.

Are you the Companies Registration Office?

We are an independent company formation agent. We are not the Companies Registration Office (CRO) and are not affiliated with it.
